6 New Electric SUVs Launching in India Over the Next 6 Months

The Indian EV market is gearing up for a major shake-up, with automakers lining up exciting new electric SUVs just in time for the festive season and beyond. From affordable city-friendly EVs to premium long-range options, buyers can expect plenty of choices in the coming three to six months. Here’s a look at the most anticipated launches from Maruti Suzuki, Tata, Mahindra, and VinFast.

1. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is set to make a strong entry into the midsize EV segment with the e Vitara, expected to launch by late 2025 or early 2026. Produced at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility for both domestic and export markets, this electric SUV will be available in three trims — Delta, Zeta, and Alpha.

  • Battery Options:
    • 61.1 kWh (range: over 500 km)
    • 48.8 kWh (more affordable, shorter range)
  • Key Features:
    • Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)
    • Large touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
    • Front ventilated seats, automatic climate control
    • 360-degree camera, wireless charger, premium cabin finish

With its competitive range and premium features, the e Vitara aims to be a strong rival in the growing EV SUV category.

2. Tata Punch EV Facelift

Tata Motors, already a leader in India’s EV space, is preparing an updated Punch EV. While the facelift will bring cosmetic and interior upgrades, it’s still unclear whether Tata will enhance the powertrain for better range.

The Punch EV has been one of the best-selling electric cars in the country, thanks to its compact size, urban-friendly design, and affordable pricing. The facelift is expected to further boost its appeal during the festive buying season.

3. Mahindra XEV 7e

The Mahindra XEV 7e will be the production version of the XUV.e8 concept and is set to be the brand’s first three-row electric SUV. Built on Mahindra’s INGLO platform, it will share many components with the ICE-powered XUV700 but with a fully electric drivetrain.

This premium SUV is expected to offer high performance, advanced connected car tech, and a spacious cabin designed for family buyers seeking zero-emission mobility without compromising on comfort.

4. Mahindra XUV 3XO EV

Positioned below the XUV400, the XUV 3XO EV will target compact electric SUV rivals like the Tata Punch EV. Spotted multiple times during road testing, it’s likely to feature a sporty design, modern interiors, and a range suited for daily city commutes.

5. VinFast VF 6

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast is making a bold move into the Indian market with the locally assembled VF 6. Produced at its Tamil Nadu plant via the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route, the VF 6 promises a range of up to 480 km (WLTP cycle). Pre-bookings are already open online and through dealerships.

6. VinFast VF 7

Joining the VF 6 will be the VinFast VF 7, a slightly larger and more premium SUV aimed at style-conscious buyers. It shares the same local assembly process and competitive range figures as the VF 6, but with additional comfort and tech features for a more premium feel.
